Bi Amping with the ESP32 Squeeezelite

There have been a few posts lately about replacing the internals of Sonos/ Symfosik speaker systems with Pi + DAC + Amp setups to give them Squeezelite functionality.
After looking through a few posts on the topic, I found one that talked about the existing electronics in a Symfonisk Book Shelf Speaker. The Digital audio is being separated into bass and treble frequencies before being each fed into a separate channel of the DAC ( eg bass > left channel, trebble >right channel ) and later, amp to separate high and low range speakers. This is all done in a single speaker and although "left" and "right" channels are being used internally , this is still an mono speaker and, just using the two channels to achieve "digital Bi-Amping"

This got me thinking. the DAC used is a PCM5102 and is supported by Squeezelite-ESP32 , the only thing different here is the Bi-Amping method used. I know that there is an equalizer function on the Squeezelite-ESP32 , but would there be any way to achieve something similar in the sense of a "digital crossover" where bass and treble are each sent to a different channel ? My first though would be toward using this for the modification to existing Sonos/Symfonisk electronics, but I can see this being quite a nice way to upgrade many existing speaker setups, giving them a digital crossover.
