Need new server - what to get?

Ok, so my Windows Home Server v1 box is getting a bit (more) flaky these days, so I'm resolving myself to the concept of getting a new piece of hardware to replace it and run LMS in a more rugged fashion. So I'm figuring an Odroid or Rpi 2, just for server duty. Question is, will I be able to map it to the existing network drive that's sourced from my WHS box? If so, I'm good to go. Otherwise, I guess it means I lumber on with the WHS box, until I replace the whole bloody thing with a NAS on which I can run a DLNA server for movies (or can I also run that on the Odroid/Rpi...?)

edit: further, I would appreciate your thoughts on what software to run... I set up a buddy with an Odroid/Max2play setup and it's the bomb, but I don't have any need for the XBMC portion.
